Sinclair Armstrong -

Post by Tommy Cunningham »

Sinclair Armstrong is a young player who has quickly become a very popular figure amongst QPR supporters,
he has shown great heart and effort when brought on in recent games.

Unfortunately for us as supporters, he is just not a natural goal scorer. He has had good chances to open his
account, in all the games he has been brought on this season. His goal scoring record is very poor, last season
he had loan spells at Torquay and Aldershot where he scored 2 goals at each club.

This young lad is still learning his trade and there is plenty of room for improvement, I just hope he is given the
time to develop, improve and enjoy a very successful career. I think the expectancy among fans is for him to
be a star overnight, hopefully with the right coaching and patience amongst the supporters he will be a very
good player for QPR.

Sinclair came to us essentially as a winger.

His best game so far for me was when he scored two U23 Cup goals v West Brom.
last season & another one was ruled out as it was wrongly deemed to be offside.
I was level with play & it was ridiculous.

Today, after being set up one-on-one, he shot straight into the keeper's gloves.

Only 19 & with great potential he still has much to learn.

Well he did go out on loan to Torquay and Aldershot at National league level without
quite frankly doing much.

OK fair comment if you say give him time.... but speaking with my cynic hat on I stand steadfast
behind my long held opinion that there is now currently not one single half decent Championship
standard striker anywhere on the clubs books!

Sorry but looking at the facts and stats I do not think Sinclair Armstrong will even go close to
solving our striker problem. I do appreciate though that a number of R's supporters do not
share my view. We shall see.

Have to agree with you Kerrins, not a decent striker in the club.

Last season Warburton was getting slaughtered for not playing youngsters, the truth of the matter
was none of the young players were of the standard required to be selected.

Both of the underage teams were relegated, that would suggest one of two things.
Either our recruitment of young players to QPR is not good or the coaching is not good enough.

I personally think the buck stops with our DOF, 8 years in the job and all that has been recruited
is substandard footballers. For a club forever preaching the need to develop our own talent,
we need a serious scouting network and that requires the need to employ the right professional people.

Clubs headhunt individuals from other clubs all the time, our club is not going forward and the
lack of ambition is a real concern.

Our youth sides have taken a lot of criticism in recent seasons.
Could the lack of quality be down to kids wanting to go to bigger clubs?
There are 2 Prem sides in the Borough, let alone other London clubs.
And of course, they'll have agents putting ideas in their heads.
Which leaves us with the lesser-gifted players.
Just a thought, may be nothing in it.
