Beale got it wrong again tonight

Post by Tommy Cunningham »

Beale’s decision to start with Balogun and Clarke-Salter tonight was a massive error
of judgement on his part, he left our two best central defenders in Dunne and Dickie
sitting on the bench.

Balogun was poor at the weekend, tonight he was woeful before being hooked at half time.
Dunne’s presence in the second half did improve us defensively, but we were so toothless
in attack it didn’t make any difference.

Our inability to create anything at set pieces is a real concern for me.

If Mick Beale is indeed this wonderful coach we keep hearing about, then why are we
so poor from our set pieces and absolutely woeful defending them.

We are on a bad run and this is now a real test for Beale.

Awful result.

Certain reports suggest we should have had a hatful of goals.
No prizes for guessing why we did not

We have a set-piece coach so I guess its back to the drawing board

Danny Ward broke away in the 1st minute & forced a good save from Seny & in
the 2nd minute we were up & running when Chris Willock squared the balL
for Lyndon to finish.

Then we witnessed left-back Josh Ruffels scoring twice before the break
Poor defending for the 1st one & with Seny off his line, with his back to goal,
Ruffels somehow hooked the ball over his shoulder into the net!!!

We swept forward for most of the 2nd half but crosses were generally poor, shots
off-target etc etc. BBC Sport stats, 71% possession, 36 shots, 6 on target.......

Thought Tim was excellent again, love watching him...

Attendance: 12,769

Two home defeats against bottom of the table sides in a matter
of days is hard to take. The journey home was spent pretty much in silence...

Watched it on Red Button.
Several factors are now evident
a We have nobody who can occupy defences and be a constant
goal threat (Charlie A come back all is forgiven :D )

b.Without Johansen we lack a midfield general who can read the game
and organise us accordingly.

c. When Willock departs a game Chair seems to think he must do everything
and hangs onto the ball and runs down blind alleys. His shooting was woeful
and generally corners and crosses were over hit and easily cleared by the
makeshift defence we faced.

I also agree about the wrong back four that started, did we underestimate
their attacking ability.

Dieng has twice been caught well off his line recently leading to soft goals as
a result. He needs to stop going to sleep ball watching.

Much dead wood to shift out in January window and some shrewd bargains
are needed in key areas.

I was having a drink in my local last week, with 2 Glasgow Rangers fans.
they were full of praise for both Beale & Balogun - of the "why did we let them go/
you're lucky to have them" variety.

I reckon your 2 mates are on the wind up Steve, Balogun was released last summer
and didn’t have any takers until Beale stepped in about 7/8 weeks ago.

All for giving people a chance in life if it is justified, but I just think there
were better alternatives than Balogun out there.

Regarding Beale I have no doubt when he does his next interview (he loves an interview), he
will mention Liverpool, Rangers, Aston Villa and that club in SW6 and that he has
coached Alexander-Arnold, Loftus-Cheek and Mount during his coaching career.

I really couldn’t give a toss what club or players Beale has coached, I just want
QPR to defend set pieces better, be more creative when we are attacking and
not lose at home to bottom of the league teams.

As Kerrins says we do not have a decent striker of any note at the club, you
can’t win games unless you score goals and right now we are struggling and will
continue to do so in that area.
