3-2 Win at Colchester....

Post by Steve Russell »

3-2 win for the Development Squad earlier this evening at Colchester.

Very poor 1st half against a side sitting at the bottom of the table! Our 2 shots on target were provided
by Harry Murphy.

Paul Furlong made 3 changes for the start of the 2nd half which saw Sam Manufor, Jaiden Putman & Jake Leahy
all came on to replace Rocco Friel, Casey Shann & Noah McCann.

According to the team sheet Jake was the trialist & the actual trialist was named!!

Great work by Rico Kennedy who was instrumental in setting up the 1st goal for Jake. Kieran Petrie slotted in
the equaliser & we were awarded a pen for handball in what must have been in added time.

After a lengthy delay Harry Murphy made no mistake from the spot.

Not a dirty game but at least 7 players booked.

Team: Clark, Friel, Shann, Aoraha, McDowell, McCann, Petrie, Tarbotton, Hassan, Murphy Kennedy.

Thanks to Colin Woodley for collecting Sammy & I from the station (& back after) to save what would
have been a 45 minute walk.

Good to see Sammy and Steve last night.
Always a pleasure to visit Colchester’s ground and the comfort and uninterrupted viewing makes you aware
of what we are missing in Loftus Road.

Special mention also to the friendly and helpful staff prior to the game who true to their word provided us with
team sheets.

A few other Rs fans in the crowd and I noticed in looking at Jake Leahy’s profile on the Offy one of them was probably
his dad who attends all his matches!

Yes very much a game of two halves and in the end a well deserved win on a cold night in deepest Essex.

I was particularly impressed with the fake Trialist :D Jake Leahy who looks a fine prospect, but full marks to Paul Furlong
for reading the game well and making game changing substitutions at half time.

After the first team performances recently it was great to go the short journey to home with a great result and for once a
weekend not ruined!

Meant to add in my duties as taxi boy it was great to be able to park only a few yards from the club Shop and
ground entrance in their enormous car parking area. No charge last night as well!
