Cian Dillon swaps the Hoops of Shamrock Rovers for the Hoops of QPR
Macdara Ferris Thu, Jan 16 2025
'Queen's Park Rangers have signed striker Cian Dillon from Shamrock Rovers with the League of Ireland side securing
a transfer fee from the Championship side.
The 18-year-old will join QPR’s Development Squad having departed from Shamrock Rovers, a club he has been with
since the age of ten having come through the club’s education programme at the Roadstone Academy.
The Republic of Ireland Under-19 international, who scored four times at that level in 2024, made his senior debut
last April for Rovers away to Waterford. He made another first team appearance off the bench in Drogheda in May.
“I’m delighted to be here and I can’t wait to get started,” Cian told www.qpr.co.uk.
“To come to England and join a club like QPR is just a dream come true. I’m excited to get going.”
Dillon follows in the footsteps of Sinclair Armstrong who joined the Rs from Rovers back in 2020. He progressed into
QPR’s first team in 2022 before making the move to Bristol City last year.
“QPR are popular in Ireland and I’ve been watching the games recently,” said Dillon. “Jimmy Dunne is obviously an Irish
lad and I know he’s been scoring goals!
“But what really appealed to me about QPR was seeing the pathway here now, with the likes of Kieran Morgan and others
getting into the first team and doing well.
“This is a great opportunity for me and I’ll work as hard as I can to take it.
QPR CEO Christian Nourry said: “His varying styles of finishing ability and into-the-box run-making stood out to us.
We're excited to work with him to further develop his game."
