The other aspect of our play I kept on commenting on on Saturday was our inability to sustain pressure on these teams.
If we had they would not settle.
However with our defence in the mood it was they didn’t have to commit much forward to score themselves which is
also worrying.
I’ve also lost count of the goals we concede from shots through our defence from the edge of the area.
Their first goal went through at least six defenders before finding the net. Who is supposed to to be picking up these
players at the edge of the area?
There are basic mistakes being made individually and collectively and that questions tactics and coaching.
Or has he lost the players?

It was good to meet up with Steve R Colin (Essex u R's) and Keith Rowley at the game on Saturday.
An awful result. Usual story numerous missed chances and simply cannot defend.
We have at present a shocking defensive unit. Name me one team in the land that would not score at least one goal
against us. Go on I dare you.

No clean sheets so far this season and it shows.
Portsmouth are a poor team who should have been beaten on the play yet we lost.
Bad news

Steve I think the point you make about giving this manager more time is valid, because financially I don’t
think we can afford to terminate the employment of Marti Cifuentes.
All the more reason to challenge Christian Nourry’s decision to extend his contract.
The one thing I am struggling with this season, is that I don’t see a team that looks “well coached” or even
“looks organized”.
At this moment in time what we need is leadership, other than Cook who is an experienced player we have no
leaders.
As some of the lads have mentioned on here, we keep conceding poor goals because we have a very poor defensive unit.
Surely Cifuentes and his coaching staff analysis of goals conceded, would identify areas where there is massive room for
improvement. You really have to question the defensive side of what is done on the training ground.
One thing is for certain we can’t all be wrong.

A manager that has no idea what his best lineup is, an obsession with playing as many players as he can at
right back.
If it's a right back we need, Man. City have just put ex-Rs man Kyle Walker on the market, a snip at £15mill.
Just sayin'.....

Steve there would be no point in Kyle Walker coming back, he would probably get the nod for the first week.
Then he would be left out the next week, when Marti Cifuentes would select either Santos, Dunne, Smyth, Fox
or Ashby to play right back.
I did hear Marti Cifuentes is looking at bringing Reggie Cannon back, apparently he made a mistake letting him go and
we desperately need a right back.

It would be good if fullbacks could be what they always used to be fully back not being expected to
be attacking fullbacks.
The art of a proper fullback defending is a dying art it would seem as the percentage of balls coming in from
the wings to an already troubled central defence is increasing.
The modern game seems to leave wide attacking players in acres of space and able to receive balls with no pressure
with our so called fullbacks scrambling to get to them usually too late.
If what we are watching is planned tactics it is not acceptable. If the players are not undertaking the instructions
given why not?
If there is no improvement Tuesday night, hopefully with the return of JCS, I really can’t see what will happen to change
the situation if they are “giving their all”.
