A 1-0 defeat for the u21 team in the Premier League Cup against Blackburn Rovers at the FA County Ground
in Leyland last night.

In the first 30 minutes of this encounter we played some decent football and did have a couple of chances to
take the lead. Sadly thereafter we slowly vanished as an attacking force and from the start of the second half
onwards we were not at the races.

After the interval Blackburn dominated and in my view we did not push enough players forward to take the pressure
off so it was no surprise when the home side won the game with a somewhat scrambled goal right near the end.
It was coming.

The highlight of the evening was the performance of the R's keeper Joel Halliday. He made 4 excellent saves
and was very competent in everything he did. Man of the match by a Country Mile. Keep him in goal for the
knockout stage!

Followed the match on X and with updates from Young Kerrins. We are usually a second half side at this
level but it wasn’t to be and as you say Young Kerrins Joel was constantly being mentioned for his saves.
We certainly have some good young goalkeepers coming through keeping up the Rs tradition of strength
in that department.

I was informed by one of Joel Halliday's relatives that recently Joel had in fact been training with the first team squad

Well, young kerrins said he'd be there, but no match reports from him - it was all Steve R's doing. :o
Maybe he forgot to sharpen his pencil??

My post match comment(see above) was all I could muster. No Martin Beattie there to help me out ;)

Steve R no doubt will do his duty and post up a detailed report on the Home Page at a later date.
