Stan Tannen on our Facebook page....
'Woods, Ingham, Petchey, Angell, Cameron, these were the players I grew up on as an 11 year old
in Div 3 South.
My Dad had a ladies coats & dresses shop down the Shepherd's Bush Market and many of the players
would stop bye for a chat.
In those days a football player was a down to earth individual who had allegiance to our Club.'

Yep players sure were down to Earth in that 1950's era.
When the local derby away against Brentford came around there once was an R's player (cant recall the name)
who travelled on the number 657 trolley bus to the Griffin Park ground

Happened into the 70s; one day in 1970 I was on a Central Line train on it's way to East Acton (I was off to school)
& who else was in the carriage but our captain at the time, Terry Venables.
