"We Need to Look at Ourselves in the Mirror"..
From West London Sport...
The R’s were toothless for large parts, and they managed just one shot on target in the game.
And, speaking to the club’s media, Cifuentes made it clear that the display was not acceptable,
as he demanded an improvement moving forward.
“We are in a process and we need to get better. I said when we won three games in a row that
#we couldn’t expect everything would now be nice. That is not the reality of football.
“We are in the situation we are in. I am not any kind of Messiah, this team has been struggling a
little bit and we just need to make sure this run is over very soon. We need to make sure we get
the best out of all the players. We need to improve altogether as a team. That is our work to do.
“We need to look at ourselves in the mirror and understand why we are not winning these games and
make sure we get stronger for the next one because we know it is not going to be easy against Ipswich
on Friday. Hopefully today is our wake-up call.”
The display against Millwall was a major worry, and after watching that you would think that the January
window is coming at just the right time.
We shouldn’t forget that Cifuentes has done a good job on the whole since his appointment, but it’s
pretty clear that new additions are needed to help this squad if they are to stay in the Championship.
So, it will be interesting to see what sort of backing he receives, and whether he decides to look into the
Scandinavian market given his previous experience in the game.

Re: "We Need to Look at Ourselves in the Mirror"..
I have seen several mentions Scandinavian players cannot be released at this time due to the way their
leagues operate in the winter months.
If it is true I hope someone is looking a potential signings in this country.

I think Marti Cifuentes needs to take a good look in the mirror himself, some of his decisions
seem very baffling to me recently. One week Kakay is right back and the next week Cannon is selected
at right back, one full back is replaced after a poor performance, by another full back who has
performed as poorly as the player he replaced.
Then we have Cook alongside Dunne in central defense, the next week it will be Cook alongside Clarke-Salter,
then the next week it will be Dunne alongside Clarke-Salter.
It just seems to me that Cifuentes can’t find a central defensive partnership from these 3 players, they have
been all over the place this season and it’s easy to see why we are so poor defensively.
Early season we also had Morgan Fox who also struggled in a QPR shirt.
When you look at the midfield players in the club, the level of inconsistency has been astounding.
Colback has been a disastrous signing, Dozzell has been awful and the club need to try and move him on.
Sam Field has really been off form recently, also had a number of on field disciplinary issues.
When you bring Chair and Willock into the equation, you have to wonder why they are so highly thought of
when they have been so poor.
Dykes, Armstrong and Kelman are the strikers we are relying on to stay in the Championship, in all honesty
we have no chance of staying up if this is our strike force for the rest of the season.
Marti Cifuentes the transfer window is about to open, you now have a fantastic opportunity to strengthen
the squad at the same time trying to offload some players.
We need a new goalkeeper, a central defender, a midfielder and a striker, preferably players who are not injury
prone or sick notes.
I know the full back positions are a concern, but we need a spine and filling those positions will help.

Re: "We Need to Look at Ourselves in the Mirror"..
Dykes Armstrong and Kelman can't hit a barn door at 6 paces. Less than 10 QPR League goals combined
between them in 18 months.
Unless we get in a reasonable even half decent Championship Standard striker/Goal scorer
(I am not expecting Jamie Vardy!) we are prime candidates for the drop.

Re: "We Need to Look at Ourselves in the Mirror"..
I don’t know about looking in a mirror. If it is on a par with their goal scoring ability they will have
trouble finding one to look in!
I think Marti is probably giving all the first team squad a chance to prove they are worth keeping either
in their usual or different positions and yes I have taken my tablets!!
They end up playing the same crap no matter who is in charge so it is the players and their couldn’t give the proverbial.
How any so called professional footballer would not want to perform at a high standard all the time is beyond me.
Probably paid too much and with nobody coming through the younger squads to put pressure on them they can’t be bothered.
Half the squad would just about hold a place in a team in the first division and lower. The lower wages may then make
them realise what they should have been doing.

Yes Essex finding a mirror or even a path to the penalty area....our strikers would still be wanting!

I daresay Marti will shuffle the pack again on Friday.....
I would love to see Rafferty Pedder given a chance & if now fit, Rayan Kolli
to start.
Would also like Sinclair to be involved & regardless of scoring a goal or not he would
ruffle the Ipswich defence's feathers

As we currently are, Rayan must be due a run of starts in a striker position.
Lyndon Dykes unfortunately seems to have lost any nous that he had to get on the scoresheet.
He’s coming off the pitch looking like he didn’t know what his purpose was during the game.
There’s no excusing that big fella not even being a nuisance to the opposition.
Sinclair Armstrong looks athletic and powerful and gives a hope of a new Sir Les in the making but the
shooting ability and attack threat from him is not being shown. Is it the game we are playing or does
he not have it to give? I can’t believe that this lad has not got a lot more in his locker than we are seeing.
What is the plan? What is the training?
I’m sorry to say that I have to give up on Lyndon. I cannot believe that Rayan and Sinclair cannot do a job for us.
Dozzell just dozzen’t do anything much at all. If what he is showing is his best, he should not be on the pitch.
If he is not delivering his best, he should be out the door for pure failure to deliver.
We have some who can’t aim and some who are aimless.
We need more options to select from. There are just too many weaknesses to carry.

I've been a critic of Lyndon in the past, especially his poor goal count; but I'm weighing in on his side now.Conor Campbell wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 12:58 am Lyndon Dykes unfortunately seems to have lost any nous that he had to get on the scoresheet. Credit where credit's due,I thought he had a very good game against Southampton, but - & it's a big but -
not in a traditional striker role. He put himself about, made a lot of tackles, distributed the ball well......
did everything but shoot (let alone score). Time to re-evaluate his role??
Re: "We Need to Look at Ourselves in the Mirror"..
Said it before a few times and I will say it again.....Give Kolli a proper run out in the first team
Ok there is a risk it may not work out.....but what have we got to lose!
