A nice win!

Post by steveqpr881 »

We all like a moan when the Rs lose, can't score etc etc, so it's good to be able to report a win -
in the League Cup as well!! Wembley here we come (steady on - ed.)

Yes we won hooray and it's nice to make progress to the next round but in the end we did make hard work
of beating Cambridge United reserves.

Will we be blunted at Blades on Saturday??

The two sides of Rs were shown last night.
The first half was reasonable with just the odd scare at the back (we missed Cook organising the defence)
but at least with Smith we had some degree of pace going forward.

Second half without Andersen and Smith we looked slow and not retaining the ball in midfield and upfront
resulted in Cambridge attacking us much more. I hope the plan wasn’t to defend as it was skin of the teeth survival time.

Apart from his mistake leading to a goal Walsh seemed assured in goal and will benefit from more game time. (Big cup run coming up :D )
Hopefully the new boys coming in will, with the return of Chair, bring more pace, creativity and ball retention.
