Penalty Shoot-Out - No Problem!

Post by Steve Russell »

We got our noses in front after 11 mins when Santos was quick to follow-up
when Dixon-Bonner's shot was pushed away.

It took another spectacular goal at the Loft End to even up matters.

That said, Luton controlled periods of the game.

Once again well done Joe Walsh. There was that angled shot towards the near-corner
that he superbly stopped & he went on to make a number of other excellent saves.

Changes were needed in the 2nd half which saw the introduction of Jake Clarke-Salter,
Paul Smyth, Kader Dembele and Alfie Lloyd.

Alfie Lloyd took up a wide-left position & he was doing so well that a second defender was
drafted over.

Straight to penalties & Zan Celar put the 1st one away at the School End.
One of Luton's was well saved & when another hit the crossbar, it just needed
Kenneth Paal to convert his.

Cue wild celebrations & 'Hi Ho Silver Lining'..... :D

The attendance was a disappointing 7,132 & the visitors didn't fill the top-tier of the School End

An excellent crowd for a reserve fixture and therein like the FA Cup lies the problem.

Beat Crystal Palace reserves in the next round and your cup run will definitely be on Young Kerrins.

Luton fielded a strong starting X1, which included nine 1st team players.
