Hull City Last Night....

Post by Steve Russell »

Chris Cox put this up on our Facebook group...

'It's ridiculous how we pass the ball around the back all game long and can't get anywhere, the times
we did directly go forward to the midfield we looked like a different team and looked positive.

Hull passed around us like we had 10 or even 9 men. It was embarrassing to watch them pass around our
team so easily.

Their defenders pass forward and start the attacks, we pass around slowly and wait for the other team to get
back and set up defensively.'

First appearance of the season in the Crown & Sceptre.

My old school mate Dave Dennis got stuck on the M4
(along with many other R's Fans) & couldn't make it in time, but it was
good to see Northolt Mel & Martin Beattie etc in there.

Straight out the starting blocks, moving the ball forward quickly,
plenty of movement & we had 3/4 good attempts at goal in the early stages.

But the visitors began to click into gear & they took the lead with a half-volley
in the bottom corner after 25 minutes.

A further goal then followed.

A superb penalty just befoe ht set us up for the 2nd half, but Hull added a third goal
after 71 mins.

Koki Saito has been improving each match & his curling strike at the Loft End
after the break came off the post.

We were vg in patches but that won't win us games.

Good to see Ilias get some game time.

Attendance: 13,407.

A poor performance, by all accounts & several problems to address.
The peasants are revolting on social media - is this the first signs of a Marti backlash??

We perhaps should never have lost this game on the overall play. I reckon we are still a work in progress
but the players must start to gel properly......and quick!

Yes a curious mix of excellent and mediocre last night.
It is to be hoped that the return of JCS, Colback and Chair will provide sticking plasters for the
mediocre bits. :D

They will provide a bit more steel in defence and midfield and hopefully provide a bit more guile in and around the
area something that is sadly missing. Dunne can then move to the fullback position where he looks much better.

I thought Saito had an excellent game and is fast adapting to the physical demands of the Championship and was unlucky
not to have scored.

A work in progress we are and we should let the workers get on with it!

Methinks the workers should get their finger out! ;)
