Watford Today....

Post by Steve Russell »

VG team performance, fans loud & proud throughout....

Definitely better side in the 1st half, more even after the break
when the home side had a period of winning free kicks & corners.

Stats state one shot on target bur there were half a dozen blocked
attempts on goal & have to say we could have done better with 4/5
that missed the target.

Zan Celar smashed one off the post & a big shout for a pen.

I do wonder about the role of the lino at times, Rangers player taken out
right in front of him, he just stood motionless & another on occasion, the
ball was clearly over the line for a throw-in, from which Watford mounted
an attack

As the home fans departed the Rangers contingent along with Marti & the
players all came together as one.

A Watford fan came over to me after to say that we should have won.

I thought it was a terrific performance by the R’s today, desperately unlucky not to win the game and
get 3 points.

The amount of chances created today was phenomenal, the game should have been out of sight by halftime.
How we were not awarded a penalty, just epitomized the standard of officiating in the Championship. Appalling.

Massive shout out to the supporters today, absolutely magnificent throughout and Marti Cifuentes even commented
after how the team responded to them and found extra energy to see the game out near the end.

Plenty of positives to be taken from today’s game, well done to the manager, coaches and players today a very good
performance.

A great result, considering that Watford are unbeaten at home so far this season.
Given a few games to improve, get injured players back, build up confidence and we could have been the side to
smash that record.

I watched the game live on Sky TV.

We should have scored twice in that spell of pressure during the ten minutes leading up to half time and
were of course unlucky with the shot that hit the post near the end.

Throughout the majority of the encounter I thought we were quite comfortable especially in defensive areas
