Watford Yesterday....

Post by Steve Russell »

Following the awful 'performance' at Swansea & the disappointing 2nd half
at Norwich (no shots on target in the whole game) what could we expect?

Prior to kick-off the players lined up in memory of fans and players who had
sadly passed away during the previous 12 months.

On a very windy & very wet afternoon in W12, we took an early lead following
a well-worked free kick. Kieran Morgan broke away to the left-flank to
receive Kenneth Paal's pass, his cross into the box was slotted home by
Michael Frey.

We doubled our lead after 37 mins with a Jimmy Dunne header from Ilias Chair's
cross. Seconds before that he had clearly had his shirt almost pulled off his back!!!

2-0 ht. During the interval Mark Prince gave one of his heart-felt addresses to
the crowd.

The visitors pulled a goal back 10 mins after the break via a deflection.

However, we increased our lead crucially 90 secs or so later.
Paul Smyth's excellent cross was headed in by Sam Field at the Loft End.

Must mention Harrison Ashby's outstanding block on the edge of the
six-yard box.

Watford had their moments but this was a well-deserved win for the R's.
