Good luck to him. News from the Club....
'JOEL Halliday has joined QPR’s Development Squad.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper has signed following a successful trial period with the club.
Having played Sunday League football until the age of 16 before spending three years in a non-league college
programme with Basingstoke, Halliday is now looking forward to the next chapter of his career.
“I am absolutely over the moon to sign my first contract,” he said. “This is an unreal feeling.
“My first aim is to become a better player, keep my head down, work hard and look to play games within the
Development Squad.”
Having trained at QPR since August, Halliday is grateful for the guidance he has already received, not only from
the goalkeeper coaches but also the senior stoppers at the club.
“All the goalkeepers here have been brilliant with me,” he said. “When I have trained with the first-team keepers,
that is the standard I want to work towards.
“Paul Nardi has had an amazing career already and is a great goalkeeper, Joe Walsh and Nathan Shepperd are unreal
and the boys I am working with daily, Matteo (Salamon) and Conor (Clark), are brilliant as well, along with the goalie
coaches.
“I just want to take anything I can from them, learn from them and be a sponge to it all because it is only going to help me.”
QPR CEO Christian Nourry said: “Joel is a very interesting profile whose biggest strength is that he has not had a typical
academy journey thus far – he has faced great adversity and overcome it and richly deserves this opportunity.
"With his frame, ball-playing and shot-stopping qualities, the floor is his to make the next step."
Welcome to the club, Joel!'
