Good news from the Club, well deserved....
'JAIDEN Putman has signed his first professional contract with QPR.
The 18-year-old defender, who has been with the club since he was eight, was joined by his mum, sister, nan and
granddad as he penned his first deal in W12.
While this contract was signed in April, it could not be ratified until the official conclusion of Putman’s loan with
Oxford City.
“This is a very happy moment for me and my family especially, because my family's been there from the start,”
Putman said
“I've been at this club since Under-9s, so seeing where I've come from to where I am now, it's just a massive achievement
for me, and it's just the start.”
Putman, who played a key role in the FA Youth Cup this season as well as starring for the Development Squad’s Premier
League Cup run, was keen to credit his family for the support they have given him over the past decade, leading to
this next chapter in his footballing journey.
“Nan’s the one that used to take me to football all the time,” he explained.
“When my mum had work, my nan used to take me to football camps in the summer, and my mum would be taking me
here, there, and everywhere too. It's just massive thanks to them.”
Putman admits the first pro contract has been a big target for him and now that he has achieved it, he is re-setting his
aims for the future.
“There's stuff I've written down of what I want to achieve, and one of them was obviously getting a pro contract,”
he explained.
“Sitting back yesterday I realised the amount of sacrifices I've made, whether that’s leaving my friends to go to football,
not going to parties, everything like that.
“I feel like I'm ending the season strong on the targets I set previously. When the new season comes, I’ll create some
new personal targets that I want to hit, and then we'll keep on going from there.”
Putman saw his close friend Emmerson Sutton make his senior bow towards the end of the 2024/25 campaign, and he is
keen to follow in his footsteps.
"I'm very close to Emmerson, we've basically been through the academy together,” he said.
“Seeing him also get his professional contract and then making his debut, I can see a clear pathway.
“And there’s Kieran Morgan, his first game on trial was against Barnsley with the Under-18s last season.
I played with him and it's just mad to see how he's gone from there to play more than 25 games in the
Championship.”
Putman is rightly proud of his own achievements to date but he is already focused on what the 2025/26 campaign
may bring.
“I’m very excited about next year,” he said. “I'm ready to get started and see what the season can hold for me.”
CEO Christian Nourry said: “We are delighted that Jaiden has signed his first professional contract with the club.
“Jaiden is a technically gifted right-back who likes to cut inside with bursts of acceleration.
“He has enjoyed a year of significant defensive and athletic progression and everyone at the club is looking forward to
working closely with him to continue improving his game."
