Welcome & good luck Lily.
From the Club...
'QPR FC Women are pleased to confirm the signing of highly-rated centre-back Lilly Wellesley‑Davies.
The 18-year-old defender arrives in W12 from third-tier Cheltenham Town, where she made 26 appearances
during the 2024/25 season.
A composed, left-footed presence at the back, Wellesley‑Davies previously developed at Southampton Women FC,
earning their young player of the year award.
She now links up with former team-mate Jess Leach as she begins the next chapter of her career in blue and white
hoops.
“It’s all starting to feel real now,” Lilly told www.qpr.co.uk. “When I first found out QPR were interested, I was
honestly excited and honoured to have the opportunity to join.”
Reflecting on her impressive campaign at Cheltenham, she said: “Last season, I made 26 appearances for Cheltenham,
which was a huge achievement for me.
“I’m really proud of that, and I’m looking forward to bringing that experience here to QPR."
“I want to be a leader on the pitch, to give everything I’ve got, and help drive the team forward.”
It was the club’s drive and vision that made QPR the standout choice for Lilly.
She continued: “When QPR approached me, what really stood out was the ambition."
“I’m a competitive player, I love to win, and I love being in an environment where everyone is striving for success."
“This is the kind of place where I believe I can achieve my goals and be part of something special.”
Having learned from experienced heads in previous dressing rooms, Lilly is now determined to grow into a leadership
role of her own.
“I’ve learned so much from my time at Cheltenham, especially from the senior players around me, and now I’m ready
to use that experience to support others and grow even more,” she added.
On what fans can expect from her, Lilly explained: “As a player, I’d say I bring a lot of fight, hunger and leadership. I’m
someone who gives everything, from the first whistle to the last.
“I’d also like to think I bring a bit of personality to the dressing room, I try to keep things light, and I’ve been told I’m
funny – hopefully for the right reasons!”
Looking ahead to her first season in R’s colours, she said: “My personal goal is to keep developing and improving.
“Promotion is obviously the big target for the team, and if I can be part of making that happen, it would mean everything.
“I can’t wait to get started, and I hope we can win lots of games together this season!”
QPR CEO Christian Nourry added: “Lilly is an aggressive and battling left-sided centre-half who can also break lines with her
passing ability."
“She has experience of playing third-tier football and, at such a young age, has high development potential.
This signing further cements our ambitions for the forthcoming season."
