On Saturday a new look QPR u18's team took on a top class Manchester United u18's squad in a pre season friendly
at the Red Devils state of the Art training academy complex at Carrington south west Manchester.

The game started off with the hosts taking an early lead by way of a fortunate one two with the Ref! Eh? Madness.
The R's did then equalise with a header from a very rare attack thanks to a keeper error. Thereafter I am sorry to
say it was downhill all the way.

Lets be clear Manchester United were a vastly superior outfit and the R's youngsters will not face better quality
opposition all season I am sure. These top premier league clubs have super class Academy Structures and it is not
easy to compete.

Five One down at the interval it was always going to be a case of damage limitation in the second half. Rangers did
get a well taken second goal by Striker(skylar?) with a blistering shot outside the box to make it 5-2 but the United kids
just stepped up a gear and ran out 8-2 winners helped sadly by two QPR poor passes from out of defensive positions.

Rangers were indeed well beat and outclassed by a superior Manchester United set up but in my personal opinion no
disgrace in that. On the bus home afterwards from Carrington the driver noticed my QPR sun hat(scorching weather)
and remarked to me that his wife was originally from East Acton and is a big Queen's Park Rangers Supporter.
Small World!

Attendance 150 (Approx) No team sheets printed

Thanks to Martin Beattie for his report on our Facebook Group....

The U18s were at Manchester United's Carrington training complex yesterday for a pre-season friendly.

Unfortunately there were no teamsheets so I have no real idea as to the make up or age of our lads.

Not surprisingly the United team was by far the better side and dominated the possession throughout the 90
minutes.

Rangers did equalise to make it 1.1 following a mistake by the Utd keeper from a first half corner, but it was
pretty much one way traffic as the first half continued.

4.1 down at half time and Utd brought on a brand new eleven - including Michael Carrick's son Jacey.

Rangers also made a number of substitutions at the break, much needed too as the weather was above 30 degrees.

United had the bulk of possession again and finished the half strongly, scoring more late goals to win the match 8.2.

Special mentions to Charlie Street who defended admirably and also to the young striker (whose first name was Skylar)
who scored an absolute screamer from 20+ yards out in the 2nd half to make the score 5.1.

The boys had travelled up from London yesterday morning for the 13.00 kick off, so although the scoreline was
disappointing the travel, heat and number of substitutes available need to be considered. As does the fact that the
development team were also playing yesterday, with several of their squad out in Spain.

Several R's parents in attendance along with Bernard Lambert

Many thanks to Steve Russell for telling me about the game taking place 👍

Yes and thanks also to Steve R for informing me that spectators would actually be allowed in to watch this
fixture subject to completion of specific on line form. Most times the public are not allowed in at Carrington
for this type of game.

Its a long walk from Carrington town to the training pitches and afterwards I was grateful to Martin B for giving
me a lift back to the main road bus stop
