Re: 1-1 Draw for the QPR Women...
Report from the Offy site..
'QPR FC Women continued their pre-season preparations with a competitive 1-1 draw against Northampton Town
Women at TSG Training Centre on Sunday afternoon.
Following last weekend’s emphatic 9-0 win over Herne Bay, this fixture offered a tougher test for Danny Harrigan’s
side against a well-drilled Northampton outfit who finished second in their league campaign last season.
The R’s started brightly and almost took an early lead when Natalia Makowska’s strike was parried by the Northampton
goalkeeper, with the follow-up effort finding the side-netting.
However, despite QPR’s positive start, it was the visitors who opened the scoring in the 22nd minute.
A well-timed through ball left Lily Bell with a one-on-one opportunity, and the forward made no mistake, calmly
slotting home to give Northampton the lead.
QPR responded well after the break and found their reward just five minutes into the second half.
There was a well-worked move from two new signings as a pinpoint delivery from Lily Wellesley-Davies picked out
Abbie Morris at the back post, who guided the ball into the net to level the scores.
Grace Stanley tested the Northampton 'keeper just moments later with a sharp effort on target as QPR looked to
take control in the second period.
Rangers continued to press and thought they had taken the lead in the 78th minute when Makowska slid a pass into
Annie Dzyadyk, who finished smartly, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.
Dzyadyk came close again just a minute later, unleashing a well-placed strike towards the far corner, but the
Northampton stopper was equal to it.
While both sides pushed for a winner, the game ended all-square, a solid workout for QPR against competitive
opposition as preparations continue for the new season.
First half: Clarke, Searle, Lewin, Gotch, Doyle, Owen, D’Santos, Mehmet, Dzyadyk, Stanley, Makowska.
Second half: Clarke, Wellesley-Davis, Brooks, Gotch, Doyle, Blodgett, Ali, D’Santos, Morris, Leach, Munro.'
