Ruislip Last Night....

The Bar was well staffed & service was brisk.
Before a sell-out crowd of 2,505 in Ruislip last night, the R's banged in 8 goals.
Wealdstone had responded with 2 goals in a decent short spell in the 2nd half
The excellent match programme included two pages from Mel Huckridge on his support,
for both sides, an interview with Mick Beale taken from 'Loft for Words' plus reports on
the 1978 FA Cup match at Loftus Road.
Rangers got off to a flying start & the pick of the goals was Ilias' wonderful solo effort.
The champagne moment in the 2nd half was Sinclair Armstrong's superb overhead kick which
resulted in the save of the match from the Stones keeper.
Another big social occasion of course & I got to meet-up in the 2nd half with my mate
Tony Smith, of 'Sounds of the Suburbs' Record Shop fame.
The threatened storm didn't happen but it did start raining as I walked back to Ruislip Station...
Team (1st half): Dieng, Paal, Clarke-Salter, Dickie, Kakay, Stefan,
Field, Dozzell, Chair, Shodipo, Dykes.
Team: (2nd half): Walsh Hamalainen, Gubbins, Dunne, Jude-Boyd,
Albert, Masterson, Thomas, Bettache, Armstrong, Bonne.
Scorers: Dykes 3, Field, Chair, Paal, Thomas, Bonne.
