Sheff United game

Post by ESSEXURs »

If you look at Sheffield’s five game winning run and our awful performance
in our last game you can only see one winner.

One team scores goals the other doesn’t and I can’t see us on paper having a chance.

However as we know from bitter experience such games are set up to produce
a surprise result no matter the previous form/league position.

I know I’m clutching at straws but I feel this may not go the way we anticipate.
It will require players like Willock turning up and producing the form we know they are
capable of showing.

I also hope we have learnt the lesson of Luton and the midfield players will actually enter
the opposition box and not leave Dykes as a loan representative.

Hopefully two up to at least give the Sheffield defence something to worry about
and hopefully we can get back to our wing play with crosses that actually look as
though they are intended for our players.

Hopefully we can return to the Chair and Willock partnership which was so effective.
Of course sickness has been in the squad and if that has been more extensive than
admitted we will be in trouble with our thin squad.

There was a minutes applause pre-kick-off in recognition of
the recent passing of Pele, Keith Sanderson & all the other
ex-players & fans who we had lost over the last 12 months.

The visitors looked dangerous in the opening stages but after
Ilias had scored confidence levels rose significantly.

We battled on, creating chances & winning numerous 50/50 balls.

How many times did Josh Smith not notice/ignore all those handballs
committed by the Blades!!!!

Some nice touches from Lyndon Dykes, who, gave 110% & must
mention Osman Kakay, who I thought was superb.

Sheffield United piled on the pressure in the final 15 mins or so & Robinson's
long throw eventually found Egan, whose close range effort was
deflected in off of Rob Dickie in the 6th minute of added time!!

Choked as I was at the result, there were many positives from the
performance to draw on.

Good support from around the ground.

Well miracles do happen and they performed as I hoped!
I agree that Dykes and Kakay stood out as we battled for an excellent draw.

As disappointing as the ending was if they had scored earlier we would probably
have lost the game as they had fresh legs that were capable of changing the game
and we do not have the same quality of subs.

It is to be hoped we can acquire another threat up front to ensure teams are
unable to push us back and to improve our goal threat which again was almost
non existent with only two shots on target.

A great team performance and hopefully we will now return to the early season form
with Willock and Chair back together.

I hope we do not play our usual tea lady eleven in the FA Cup and for once play our
strongest team to get momentum for a top six push.

I should also have added in a great team performance that Field and Roberts
were excellent with Roberts having his best game so far.

Its never over in football till that fat lady sings...Damn it!! :x

Had to follow live on Radio. Silly people in the crowd cheering at the end
as if the game was won...and stupid radio commentators stating that the
game was over!!....

When will these people EVER learn :?: :?:
