Why we should never have signed Tyler Roberts this season

Post by Tommy Cunningham »

I was sent the following information by a fellow QPR supporter, this totally
epitomized why our DOF is not fit for purpose.

I have checked it out myself and the numbers are correct.

A truly awful signing that the club have at last and quite rightly, sent
back to his parent club Leeds United.

Tyler Roberts
2016 - 2022

Club Appearances Goals
WBA 1 0
Oxford Utd 14 0
Shrewsbury Town 13 4
Walsall 17 5
Leeds Utd 101 9

Total 146 18

Check those numbers against these of Charlie Austin in his second spell at QPR.
QPR 34 13

Our DOF decided to part company with Charlie Austin, to bring in Tyler Roberts
whose numbers it has to be said are extremely poor.

If any supporters are in any doubt as to why our club is in a mess, then look
at player recruitment over the last 8 years, look at the managers appointed by
the DOF during this time. Managers and coaches have departed with great
regularity, yet our DOF has never been held accountable for any of this chaos and
that is wrong.

I have said on this forum many times and will continue to say it, our club needs
change from top to bottom now.

Hoos and Ferdinand must and I repeat must depart QPR now.

I said it pre season before a ball was kicked....We should have kept
Charlie Austin and Gray too. Therefore no need for Tyler Roberts

Agree 100% with you Mr Kerrins.

I quoted this example because purely and simply, the cost of bringing Tyler Roberts
to QPR would have been a costly transaction involving a loan fee, % of salary, agents
fees and any other add ons. There would obviously be no goal scoring bonus required.

If we as supporters can research these players, then why the DOF of QPR has made
the decision to sign this player is astonishing.

Taylor Richards has hardly lifted a leg for QPR this season, in fact Neil Critchley said
during his short reign in the hot seat that he couldn’t get himself going.

Once again a loan fee involved, % of salary, agents fees and any other add ons.
Obviously appearance fees would be at a minimum. To make matters worse with
Richards, a deal is in place to sign this player permanently at the end of the season. WHY ?

We are a football club that has to get our recruitment right a majority of the time,
instead we continue year after year getting it wrong.

As the clubs recently published accounts showed we are hemorrhaging money, just
looking at the signing of these 2 players and the disastrous appointments of
Neil Critchley and his assistants it is easy to see why.

Surely the board at QPR cannot be happy with how the club is being run, at the end
of the day they are the owners and need to make some big decisions for the
sake of Queen’s Park Rangers FC.

Yes Tommy . Big (and correct) decisions need to be made.

I only hope we are still a Championship status club when they are eventually made!

Are we sure that Ferdinand signed him, or was it our manager at the time?

Steve listening to that shy bloke who took his integrity and respect to Glasgow
early season, he was always talking about the players our DOF was talking to.

In fact I think he was responsible for the recruitment of all the players into QPR this season.
