Southern Junior Floodlight Cup Semi-Final
Team: Brooks, Hazell, Finch, Sibley, Moughton, Blake, Morgan (I), Parker,
Leach, Bathurst, Morgan (R)
Whilst the QPR first team were having another lean season, the Rangers
junior sides were on a crest of a wave.
Seventeen-year-old Frank Sibley had already made his senior debut a year earlier.
The Morgan twins and Tony Hazell had also forced their way into the first team.
Rangers had beaten Luton Town 4-2 at Hayes & Harlington in the previous round of
the Southern Junior Floodlight Cup and were then drawn against Fulham.
The semi-final was played on Monday 15th February at Craven Cottage.
The R’s fielded a strong side whilst Fulham included the likes of Les Barrett
and Terry Parmenter.
Rangers won the game 2-0 with goals from Parker and Bathurst.
Later that month Mick Leach went on to score on his 1st team debut.
Rangers then met Tottenham Hotspur in what was to have been a two-leg final.
However the match at White Hart Lane was postponed and the second-leg was
played at the White City.

Re: On this Day - Juniors knock Fulham out of the Cup...
Ray Goddard who was in the same year as me at Henry Compton Secondary School
and we both played in the school cricket team together was in goal for Fulham that
night I'm sure.
He went on to play for a number of seasons as Orient's first choice goalie in the 1970s.
Sadly now deceased and died at quite an early age.
