Coventry game

Post by ESSEXURs »

This feels like one of those season (and career) defining games.
If the players perform at the same low level as the Portsmouth game the crowd will be on their backs
and a defeat will be inevitable.

This group of players seems to lack the fighting ability to get themselves out of such situations and only Frey
on Saturday showed any passion.

Any defeat can be accepted if the players are at least performing to the standard that we expect and show passion.

They need to press from the start this evening to unsettle Coventry and keep it going. With our recent defensive displays
and inept forward play the game will soon be beyond our ability to retrieve it should they get a couple of goals.

Better result than I expected but congratulations to young Morgan for getting us a point.
He looked good on Saturday and hopefully we have a good prospect.

Saito looked good defensively and in attack and he is adjusting well to the demands of the Championship.

We are very vulnerable to the fast break and will always struggle against the quicker teams.
Varane had a good game also.

Celar had twelve touches all game and was quite frankly a waste of a position. He wasted several great crosses by
his lack of anticipation. I don’t know if a loan would benefit him but he certainly is way behind Frey in adjusting
to the League.

Tough period coming up but as usual with us there will be be the odd surprise result…..or not!

The only positive from the game was we didn’t lose, Coventry dominated for large parts and in all honesty
a point was all we deserved.

To concede so early in the game was disappointing to say the least, we have a corner and make a complete
“balls up” of it again and Coventry break away and eventually score from our corner.

I thought there were some good performances to be fair, but there were some shocking performances on that pitch.

Ilias Chair strolled around that park last night as if he was Lionel Messi, defensively he never tracked back, shooting
from ridiculous angles, his free kicks and corners were abysmal and he is certainly no team player. I get the distinct
impression that Ilias Chair thinks he’s too good for QPR, well Ilias you are not and never will be we have had far better
players than you in the past.

I know he is just returning from injury, but if he is not fit enough to play then he shouldn’t have been selected.

Unfortunately, Dembele and Celar contributed absolutely nothing to the team last night.

Dembele’s woeful clearance for the Coventry goal totally epitomized his performance.

He was wasteful, poor touch and generally weak, he looked totally out of his depth and this lad needs to work a lot harder
if he’s to achieve his potential.

Celar is hardly worth a comment as he only had 12 touches all evening, he would probably argue about a lack of service
but like Dembele he was a waste of a shirt last night.

Well done and congratulations to Kieran Morgan, let’s hope there are many more appearances and goals for you in a QPR
jersey.

A draw at home against a poor team. This is still a bad result for us.

Not very likely to win any of our next 3 games :(

Pleased for Morgan though

Great support again last night & the 14,193 attendance was bigger than I expected.

Well done to Koko Saito & love his bow to the fans at the end of the game.
There was a moment in the 1st half when he had the ball in a left-back position
& there was no one in front of him to pass to so he was forced to knock it back

And well done to Paul Smyth, an assist for the goal & a couple of great crosses along
the 6-yard box & where was Zan Celar???? He received a well-deserved & well appreciated
standing ovation when he walked back to the dressing room via the Stan Bowles Stand & the Loft.

If Michael Frey is unavailable then start Alfie Lloyd.

Love the look of Kieran Morgan, only 18, apart from his goal (the first at the Loft End this season)
he loves to play the ball FORWARD.

Paul Nardi didn't have a lot to do but he made a great save in the closing stages.
