Welcome to the R's. From the Club...
GOALKEEPER Faye Baker has joined QPR Women.
Baker has previously represented Brighton and Lewes in the Women’s Championship.
She also achieved promotion to the third tier with Wimbledon – something QPR are looking to emulate
“I'm really excited,” Baker said.
“It's a professional environment here and one I'm looking forward to being a part of. I think it's an exciting project
and knowing some of the girls, it's nice to be reunited with them and hopefully go on to achieve great things.”
QPR Women are taking an ambitious approach toward the 2025/26 campaign, and Baker, who was with Saltdean United
last season, is keen to take on the responsibility of aiding a promotion push.
“I think I'm somebody that's got a winning mentality,” she explained.
“As soon as I came down and saw the training ground and the facilities, and heard about the club’s project, I knew it was
something that I wanted to be part of in an environment that I'd thrive in.
“Making a signing like Franny (Ali) is a statement in itself, but more of those, and to go with the quality that is already in
the team, it should be an exciting season ahead.
“I think those of us that have been in this league before know how difficult it is to get out of it.
“Having won the league with Wimbledon, you build that winning mentality where you're not afraid to be in pressurised
environments.
“Ultimately, you've got to be somebody that wants to win. We shouldn't hide away from pressure. It's what gets the best
out of us.”
CEO Christian Nourry said: “Bringing Faye into this project is another important and progressive signing for the squad.
“On top of her talents, she knows what is needed to get out of this division. From the first conversation, we knew Faye
was an all-in type of character, and that commitment across the team will drive our success this season.
“Our goals for this season are aligned so it was a simple decision to make this happen.”
